Podstawy etyczne w świecie postwestfalskim – nowy rodzaj wspólnoty politycznej
Abstract
The literature frequently alludes to a new era – the post-Westphalian era, and
concomitantly, to a novel political community – the post-Westphalian community. Therefore, questions arise regarding the rationale behind referring to the
post-Westphalian order, its differentia specifica, and what distinguishes this
innovative political community from nation-states – the political entities that
inhabit contemporary societies.
The article aims to contemplate the ethical underpinnings of the international
community and the political communities that constitute it. Discussion revolves
around issues such as: the post-Westphalian order, which internationalises
efforts to counteract unlawful exclusion; the post-Westphalian political community, which facilitates the expansion of moral boundaries of political communities (nation-states); and transnational citizenship, which reconciles the
universal with the particular.
Even though we are still dealing with the Westphalian order, where nation-states
are the primary actors, it does not change the fact that elements of a new order
are present – the post-Westphalian order with its innovative political community, the best example of which is the European Union
