Abstract

Electromobility – the transformation from the manufacture and use of combustion engine into electric vehicles represents an opportunity, but also a threat, for manufacturing companies in Poland. The article presents an analysis of the factors behind this transformation and the potential impact on enterprises producing cars and buses as well as automotive parts. Using a desk research analysis of statistical data and industry reports, the growth potential of sectors related to the production of vehicles is shown. Then, using the case study method, examples of companies operating in Poland that have successfully used the electromobility trend for development are presented: the production of vehicles (Solaris Bus & Coach), batteries (LG Energy Solution) and chargers (Ekoenergetyka). Threats in the form of closures or job cuts in some production facilities associated with traditional combustion engines are also presented.
